SKVC helped Latvian Quality Agency for Higher Education to achieve registration on EQAR

2019-01-03

In December 2018, Latvian Quality Agency for Higher Education (AIKA) was included on the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). Prior to this, in June, after successful international review, AIKA became a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).

It is a significant acknowledgment of the Latvian higher education quality assessment agency. This membership means that AICA substantially complies with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance and has been recognised as a reliable and trustworthy cooperation partner in the higher education area. Latvian and foreign higher education institutions and students can trust higher education quality assessments organised by AIKA.

The Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) contributed to AIKA’s preparation for registration on EQAR and full membership in ENQA. Since 2016, SKVC is partnering with Latvian Academic Information Centre (AIC), Council of Higher Education and 12 Latvian Higher Education Institutions for the implementation of the project co-funded by European Social Fund. The aim of this project is to provide support to AIKA for fulfilling the requirements for the EQAR registered agency, including support for enhancing the quality of activities and capacity building. The specialists of SKVC consulted colleagues on preparation of the strategy, internal procedures and other documents of the Agency, organized trainings for staff of the Agency and representatives of higher education institutions.

Latvian Quality Agency for Higher Education (AIKA) is an autonomous department of Latvian Academic Information Centre (AIC); the latter is also responsible for the national qualifications framework and recognition of foreign qualifications (acts as ENIC/NARIC centre). More about AICA
