BRAVO project partners meeting in Vilnius (Updated)

2023-11-08

On 25-26 October 2023 BRAVO project partners meeting was held in Vilnius, at SKVC head office. In addition to SKVC representatives, the project coordinators from Norway's Direktoratet for høyere utdanning og kompetanse (HK-dir) and partners from Sweden's Universitets- och högskolerådet (UHR) as well as representatives from the NARIC Advisory Board and the European Commission were involved.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the policy framework of VET recognition at the European and national levels. During the first day of the meeting, Kinga Szebeni (European Commission) presented a current policy in VET at the EU level. Gunnar Vaht (NARIC Advisory Board) shared about the governance of the ENIC-NARIC network, the different and varied responsibilities of the ENIC-NARIC centers, and that some centers also work with qualifications of the vocational education and training sector. The ENIC-NARIC centers have the responsibility to provide information about the countries' education systems, and when other institutions are responsible for the academic and professional recognition of vocational qualifications, to mediate on a national scale, helping to obtain the necessary information. During the next day of the meeting, there were discussions about the recognition of VET qualification, the diversity of recognition schemes, benefits and challenges of creating a European network of professional qualifications recognition.

The project aims to extend the role of the NARIC network to a functioning network for the recognition of vocational qualifications, in order to facilitate mobility of vocational qualifications holders in Europe, and help to meet the needs of the labour markets.
