Digital certificates in Lithuania: what do you need to know?

2023-07-05

From 1st May 2023, general education certificates, vocational diplomas and certificates and duplicates are issued only in electronic format in Lithuania.

The documents are considered issued when they are produced by the school and registered in the Register of Diplomas, Certificates and Qualifications (Diplomų, atestatų ir kvalifikacijos pažymėjimų registras; the Register). All digital certificates and matriculation certificates shall be given a registration number. Each digital certificate has a digital certificate code and a QR code in the last table.

Student may view, download and print out the documents by themself either by registering into the Register through  an identity recognition tool (e-banking) or logging to the Register with the digital certificate code provided by his school. If the student is unable to connect by such means, he can contact his school, which will forward the documents by email or print them out.

Lithuanian and foreign institutions can verify the fact of issuance of the documents, the authenticity of the data, etc., with the code and/or QR code, provided by the owner of the document (the student) by logging in to the Registry here.

At the moment, the information is available in Lithuanian only, but in the future it will be available also in English.
