Meetings with higher education institutions to discuss academic recognition of foreign qualifications

2023-07-18

Traditionally, SKVC started a series of meetings on academic recognition of foreign qualifications with representatives of Lithuanian higher education institutions in the spring. As part of monitoring the academic recognition of higher education institutions, the SKVC met with staff and managers of higher education institutions directly engaged in academic recognition.

12 individual meetings have already been held with representatives of Lithuanian higher education institutions engaged in academic recognition to discuss their academic recognition in 2022, as well as discuss their good practices and challenges encountered during academic recognition of foreign qualifications, to present organisational and quality assurance measures for decision making, and to make suggestions for the improvement of qualification and academic recognition processes. Meetings with 5 more higher education institutions are planned during the second half of 2023.

Each higher education institution has received a report prepared by the SKVC, providing an overview of its academic recognition activities in the previous year.

The SKVC's monitoring of academic recognition in Lithuanian higher education institutions is aimed to assess the situation at the national level, to provide recommendations to higher education institutions to comply with good recognition practices in accordance with the Lisbon Recognition Convention and its accompanying documents, and to improve the quality assurance mechanisms of academic recognition processes. In this way, Lithuania complies with its international obligations to ensure that foreign qualifications of those enrolling in studies in Lithuania are properly and correctly recognised.
