SKVC is re-listed in EQAR

2022-11-10

Listing of SKVC (Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education) in the European Register for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (EQAR), which is the register of trustworthy agencies, for the third time is extended.

The current decision by EQAR‘s Register Committee is made on the basis of a positive evaluation report by ENQA panel. The Register‘s Committee concluded that SKVC worked in compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
In the first half of 2022, the third regular external evaluation of SKVC's performance as a quality assurance agency took place, coordinated by ENQA.
EQAR is the official tool of the European Higher Education Area, which shows a quality agency's compliance with ESG standards. SKVC has been listed in this register since 2012.

“In spite of the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, we are proud that SKVC registration in EQAR has been renewed on the basis of the findings of targeted review“ – says Almantas Šerpatauskas, Director of SKVC.

The EQAR‘s Register Committee made some remarks, that were already analysed and discussed within SKVC, appropriate actions being planned. You can access EQAR’s full decision here.

SKVC strengths and areas for improvement

Despite the heavily regulated higher education system, Lithuania has demonstrated its full commitment to the values and initiatives promoted by the European Higher Education Area and could be named as an example for other countries in a number of areas.
The review panel congratulates SKVC for its achievements in the development of an ESG-compatible higher education quality assurance system in Lithuania and also for the significant role that SKVC has in the higher education sector in general. This was confirmed by the trust of a number of stakeholders.
However, the experts point out that the autonomous functioning of the quality agency needs to be further promoted, certain evaluation processes need to be structured more clearly and more sustainable funding needs to be sought, etc.

Based on these findings, a plan of measures is being developed to improve the SKVC's performance as a quality agency.

SKVC will remain in the EQAR until June 30, 2027 when its activities will be repeatedly externally evaluated by an international panel.
