Telšiai Seminary is Ceasing its Activities as a Higher Education Provider

2024-02-22

On 24 January 2024, the Government of the Republic of Lithuania has passed a Resolution No. 73, which revokes the license of Telšių Vyskupo Vincento Borisevičiaus kunigų seminarija (Telšiai Bishop Vincentas Borisevičius Priest Seminary) to operate as a private higher education provider. The Telšiai Seminary has been gradually ceasing its activities related to provision of higher education and currently has no enrolled students.

The license was initially awarded to the Seminary on 20 March 2000 with a Governmental Resolution No 313. The Telšiai Seminary was one of the catholic seminaries operating in Lithuania, which fall under the system of quality assurance of the Holy See. The other catholic seminary, which continues to operate as a higher education provider in Lithuania, is Vilniaus Šv. Juozapo kunigų seminarija (Vilnius St. Joseph's Seminary).
